The image of Paraskeva was very significant for Pustozersk. The icons of the saint were kept in the Pustozersk Transfiguration Church. The residents from many villages of Nizhnepechorye came here for church services on Bolshaya Paraskeva, the day of memory of which is celebrated on November 10. By this time, industrialists’ carts with fish, Karsk omul and furs had been returning from the Yugorsky Strait to Pustozersk. One of the images painted "full length against a golden background by an academician in St. Petersburg" was annually taken for the fishing period to the chapel on the Yugorsky Strait.
It is believed that Paraskeva protects family well-being and happiness, assist in motherhood and women's health. According to church belief, Saint Paraskeva is the patroness of fields and cattle. Therefore, on her memory day, it is customary to bring fruit to the church for consecration, which then will be stored as a shrine until next year. Moreover, they pray to Saint Paraskeva for cattle preservation from mortality.
The image of Paraskeva was painted by a resident of Arkhangelsk Vitaly Zlobin, a 2011 graduate of the icon-painting school at the Moscow Theological Academy in the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. A half-length icon painted with tempera paints on the grounded lime board with a cut-back centre. The icon was donated to the funds of the Pustozersk Museum-Reserve in 2015.
